We don't recommend it. DIY spot cleaning with water can leave permanent rings or cause dyes to bleed on silk. Even small stains are best handled by a professional who can assess the specific rug first.
Does sunlight damage silk rugs?+
Yes, prolonged direct sunlight can fade silk's natural sheen and colors over time. We recommend periodically rotating silk rugs and keeping them out of direct, sustained sun exposure where possible.
How often should silk rugs be professionally cleaned?+
Similar to wool, roughly every 12 to 18 months for most homes, though lighter foot traffic areas (common for finer silk rugs) may allow for a longer interval. We can advise based on your specific rug and its use.
